Execution

Step-by-step cues

  1. Stand upright with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand at your sides with a neutral grip (palms facing inward).
  2. Keep your elbows close to your torso and curl the weights upward by flexing your elbows, rotating your wrists so that your palms face up as you lift.
  3. At the top of the movement, pause briefly and then rotate your wrists so that your palms face downward.
  4. Slowly lower the dumbbells back to the starting position with this reverse grip.
  5. Rotate your wrists back to the neutral position to prepare for the next repetition.

Technical tips

  • Maintain a controlled motion throughout the exercise to maximize muscle engagement.
  • Avoid swinging or using momentum to lift the weights; focus on isolating the biceps and forearms.
  • Keep your core engaged and back straight to maintain proper posture.
  • Use a weight that allows you to perform the exercise with correct form; it's better to start lighter and increase gradually.
  • Breath naturally, exhaling as you lift and inhaling as you lower the weights.
