Execution

Step-by-step cues

  1. Lie flat on a bench with your feet firmly planted on the floor.
  2. Hold a dumbbell in each hand with an overhand grip, palms facing each other.
  3. Extend your arms above your chest, keeping a slight bend in your elbows.
  4. Slowly lower the dumbbells out to the sides in a wide arc until you feel a stretch in your chest.
  5. Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement.
  6. Bring the dumbbells back to the starting position by squeezing your chest muscles.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
