Execution

Step-by-step cues

  1. Lie flat on your back on a mat with your legs extended and arms at your sides, palms facing down.
  2. Keep your legs straight and together, then slowly lift them towards the ceiling while keeping your core engaged.
  3. Raise your legs until they form a 90-degree angle with your torso or as high as you can without lifting your lower back off the ground.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the movement, ensuring your core remains tight.
  5. Slowly lower your legs back to the starting position, maintaining control and avoiding any sudden drops.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Technical tips

  • Keep your lower back pressed against the mat throughout the exercise to avoid strain.
  • Engage your core muscles by pulling your belly button towards your spine.
  • Breathe out as you lift your legs and inhale as you lower them.
  • If you find it difficult to keep your legs straight, slightly bend your knees to reduce tension.
  • Start with a smaller range of motion if you're a beginner and gradually increase as you build strength.
  • Avoid using momentum; focus on slow and controlled movements for maximum effectiveness.
