Execution

Step-by-step cues

  1. Set the cable machine to a high position and attach a single handle.
  2. Kneel on one knee with the opposite foot flat on the floor, ensuring your torso is upright.
  3. Grasp the handle with your arm fully extended overhead, palm facing forward.
  4. Engage your core and pull the handle down towards your shoulder, keeping your elbow close to your body.
  5. Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement, feeling the contraction in your lat.
  6. Slowly return to the starting position, maintaining control throughout.
  7. Complete the desired number of repetitions before switching sides.

Technical tips

  • Ensure your back remains straight and avoid leaning forward or backward during the exercise.
  • Focus on pulling with your back muscles rather than your arm to maximize lat engagement.
  • Maintain a neutral wrist position to avoid unnecessary strain.
  • Keep your movements slow and controlled to enhance muscle activation and prevent injury.
  • Breathe out as you pull down and inhale as you return to the starting position.
  • Adjust the weight so that you can perform each repetition with proper form.
