Execution

Step-by-step cues

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and toes slightly pointed out.
  2. Engage your core and keep your chest up while maintaining a neutral spine.
  3. Begin the movement by pushing your hips back as if sitting into a chair.
  4. Bend your knees and lower your body until your thighs are parallel to the ground or as low as your mobility allows.
  5. Ensure your knees track over your toes and do not cave inward.
  6. Keep your weight distributed evenly through your heels and midfoot.
  7. Pause briefly at the bottom of the squat.
  8. Drive through your heels to return to the starting position, fully extending your hips and knees.
